David Wright
Chief Executive Officer
David Wright is the Chief Executive Officer of Markwood. Wright joined Markwood in 2012 and was elevated to the role of CEO in 2016. Prior to joining the Markwood team, Wright spent more than a decade directing growth for multiple private investment groups and developing high-end commercial /residential properties from the ground up throughout Los Angeles and Northern California. He previously served in a number of property and project management capacities, where he was responsible for streamlining accounting practices, improving investor relations, and significantly increasing productivity. Over the course of his career, Wright has also developed and launched a successful technology start-up company providing back-end services, e-commerce, database, video streaming, and internet hosting capabilities.
He spearheaded the founding of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tucson, Arizona and previously served on the organization’s board of directors, first as secretary-treasurer and then as president. He is a current member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Central City Association of Los Angeles.
Wright studied computer science and systems engineering at the University of Arizona and began his career developing control systems for ground and satellite-based telescopes as a member of the university’s Astronomy Department.
